I love Duke's work from the first time i've seen it, every piece is great. It would be soooo nice to see Duke 8 UI again :)

I use IceHUD myself and Xperl, and have tried on multiple occasions to try to do away with my player frame, but it always seems like I find a use for it, so now I have both, which at times is also frustrating because it is duplicate information.

This is the most recent picture of my UI, however I have done some new minor tweaks to it, including moving the minimap to the middle of the bottom panel:

I think the pet bar is required for ALL classes not just classes that have pets... Why... Vehicles. when you get in a vehicle it shows in the pet frame. If you don't have a pet frame you can't target your own vehicle , or see your vehicles health/energy ect. Both of those are needed in EoE and Ulduar.

"There are two unit frames that, barring strange circumstances, every layout is going to use"

Do you count HUDs as Unit Frames? I use ICEHUD for my player and target information (and other things) but don't have either up as Unit Frames in a UF add-on. I appear in my raid frames (Grid in my case) as well, but clearly my target doesn't. I also use Pitbull for Focus, Target of Target, and Target of Focus, but nothing else.

In reality, ICEHUD is giving me exactly the same information that PitBull could, but is it a UF? I do realise that I am splitting hairs here, but it is another equivalent option that you seem to have missed for at least some of the obligatory frames.

I recently put some finishing touches on my UI. I use Pitbull for frames, I love how its Load on Demand and customizable as hell.

Current UI, taken in Naxx. Raid frames span across the top, includes 40 man. I found an addon to change ALL ingame fonts (Fontain), but I wasn't satisfied with the fonts it offered. I grabbed some free fonts off the interwebs and found the code in the addon to make the accessible. I was pretty thrilled to see it actually work.

Screenshots of my actual UI can be found there. It's a healer UI, heavily focused on having a good overview, centered raidframes, easy visible castbars.

The base of the UI is by Dawn and his oUF_slim as well as oUF_Asym UI Compilation.

I'm not in the best position to be judging Duke since he's interfaces are absolutely fantastic.. But I can't help but think his block design would be better without the player portrait. Functionally it operates on the same principles of player name: you're better off not showing it. The symmetry could have been maintained with the minimap and/or combat-sensitive frames (threat & damage meters).

Fantastic frames all-around though. I'm glad you included Donk's modular unit frames. I was obsessed with those for quite some time after first seeing Rob's post on those.

Wonderful look at the frame concepts of some of the leading UI designers. I love the idea behind Metz's creation, although I would never use it, and Duke has just given me the final idea I need to finish my own UI. Thanks for the inspiration.

1 Question: Which unit frames do you use for your new UI Duke?
