I gave the Beta a try and boy am I glad I obeyed the “backup your addons” this time…usually I skip that step often when trying out new things.

Its slick
its functional
its beta….meaning it overwrote a lot of mods i used and downloaded some I didn’t ask for. (i assume this was just a crossed wire with identifying what mods i was running). I reloaded my backups and think I’ll wait a bit longer for it to go main stream. lots of potential here though…looking forward to its final non beta release.

Well, in Beta it seems like it’s doing everything that Curse isn’t doing. However, I’ve learned that just because a Beta looks great doesn’t mean that the actual client is going to be the same.. Hellgate London (makes me sad to think of what that game could have been) has taught me that lesson well.

Yay! Finally, I’ve been waiting for the Beta to drop since curse stripped out their free users client. Hopefully this will do the trick, and as Cal said, it will be interesting to see what other addon hosting sites jump on the band wagon.

Has the potential to be the catch-all addon updater.

Does not seem to play well with Symlinks on OS X (ended up deleting the one addon i decided to test with instead of installin/reinstallint/updating.

Yea, if you never need to look at it there is no reason to run it. Blizzard added threat to the base UI and all threat mods since then just hook that and are simply displays.

Minion looks promising, but I think its success will depend on other sites actually writing modules to support it to make it universally accepted. I’m waiting to see if Curse puts out a module. My understanding is that it can support sites with premium features, though I don’t know the extent of that support. A WoWI / Curse all-in-one updater would make me one happy user.

*Big bold notice* The minionion is BETA! Make sure you back up your addon folder before you proceed. There is a chance it could install old addons or just overwrite your entire folder with porn. While that’s unlikely, be sure you back up just in case.

That being said, things are looking rather kickass so far. You did, however, forget to link the bug tracker and forums :P

Oh, and Matty… Omen hasn’t broadcast since 3.0 dropped, it’s driven entirely by the game’s API now. It’s just a pretty interface, if you’re not using the interface, you don’t need the addon.

You realize that all threat meters are simply displays for the built in blizzard threat api and do no syncing or broadcasting anymore?
