The addon I use to find the source of an item is InspectEquip.

“InspectEquip attaches a panel to the inspect window that shows a list of the character’s equipment sorted by source (i.e. Raid: Ulduar, PvP, Crafted…). This gives you a quick overview of a character’s equipment.

InspectEquip also adds detailed item source information (including boss names, item prices for Emblem rewards etc) to all item tooltips.”

I typically run WoW in maximized window mode, so that I can quickly tab out to Firefox or whatever during flights. Does this addon offer anything I couldn’t achieve by say, alt-tabbing to Wowhead and doing a filtered search? I guess the ability to link more easily is one. Are there any more?

Don’t get me wrong, I love addons and can appreciate that some people rather do this than alt-tab out of the game. I’m just curious if it’s worth downloading for my particular play style. Thanks!

Being an item DB, I’d rather say it *could* replace Ludwig (which has less filtering capabilities).

For the drop rate/location, as it has been said, Mendeleev most likely do that, as well as Altoholic, if I’m not mistaken.

I’m finding that I haven’t had nearly as much use for it as I had thought I would. And some items that I would have fully expected to be there actually aren’t, rare BoE’s that have dropped since Pre-BC. So far it’s a fairly decent addon, but I’m just not putting it to use very often yet. Well see as time goes on. The linkerator sounds interesting and might be a decent alternative.

I had this addon installed for a bit, but I found that I didn’t use it as much as I thought I would. What worked better for me was Fizzwidget linkerator. If you type a bracket and then the beginning of an item name it will autofill in the rest, e.g. [Kang would resolve to [Kang the Decapitator] as a chat link. I have a pretty good memory, so this works in nearly all cases. The only time it doesn’t is when the item hasn’t been seen on the server yet or for some reason I can’t remember the name of an item.

The addon that shows the location where the item drops in the tooltip is AtlasLoot Reversed. Don’t know if you need AtlasLoot for that to work.

The addon that shows the stat increases is RatingBuster.

I believe Mendeleev shows item locations in the toolbar. I haven’t been without this for over a year. I just found out that I need to update one of the libraries…
