Track Temporary Buffs with SurgeTrack

If you’re playing a class that has talents which provide temporary buffs (which is every class), look into SurgeTrack. Sometimes it can be hard to see what procs have activated. SurgeTrack just displays the icon in the middle of your screen along with a timer. It’s extremely simple to setup and load. It works well with ButtonFacade.

By default, it has the following effects and spells loaded:

  • Death Knight
    Rime(Freezing Fog), Killing Machine, Runeforge(Cinderglacier)
  • Druid
Eclipse, Omen of Clarity, Nature’s Grace, Owlkin Frenzy, Predatory Strikes(Predator’s Swiftness)
  • Hunter
Improved Steady Sho, Lock and Load, Rapid Killing
  • Mage
Brain Freeze, Arcane Concentration, Hot Streak, Missile Barrage, Firestarter, Fingers of Frost, Impact
  • Paladin
The Art of War, Infusion of Light
  • Priest
Surge of Light, Holy Concentration, Serendipity
  • Shaman
Elemental Focus, Maelstrom Weapon, Tidal Waves, Elemental Oath
  • Warlock
Nightfall(Shadow Trance), Backlash, Backdraft, Decimation, Empowered Imp, Molten Core, Pyroclasm
  • Warrior
Bloodsurge, Sudden Death, Sword and Board, Taste for Blood, Glyph of Revenge
  • Common
Val’anyr Hammer of Ancient Kings – Equip Effect(Blessing of Ancient Kings), Protection of Ancient Kings

Individual buffs can be disabled based on your preference. Simply uncheck the ones you don’t want.

There’s a setting within that allows audio cues to be played when a certain buff triggers. Feel free to experiment with the different ones listed.

Wish I had known about that before I got into Power Auras. But, then again, I have gown to really like power auras.

Absolutely nothing wrong with Power Auras. This is just an alternative if you don’t feel like reconfiguring it for other characters. Or something. =)

Will this track Trinket procs? Or can it be programmed to if it’s not part of the default setup?

  5. Matticus on Thursday, October 1, 2009

@Lanashara of Khaz’Goroth: There’s a section where you can input individual spell IDs. Trinket procs should work for that too. I haven’t tried it out myself, but I suspect it will appear.

An almost exact same addon that’s available is Event Alert. In case you want an alternative.

What I did to prevent wasting my Surge of Light procs was to make the 3rd set of buffs in Elkano buff bars just for Surge of Light and put the bar stupid-big in the middle of the screen, so it only pops up when I have the buff and can easily see how much longer I have it. If I don’t need to heal anyone before the end I’ll just /assist the tank and then use it.

  13. Zusterke on Thursday, October 1, 2009

@Nachtraaf: does EventAlert track multiple procs at the same time? IIRC it only tracks the last buff/proc that occured. I had some trouble with it in the 3.0 days when I tried to set it up for both Holy Concentration and Improved Holy Concentration.

EventAlert tracks the last 3 buffs
